Sweet, Sweet Sadie
One of my pet biz clients, Janet, is newly fostering this lovely girl. Up until a couple weeks ago, Sadie was being boarded in a kennel in Petaluma, CA. In January she’d been rescued by Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue (GGLRR) from the Marin Humane Society where she’d been surrendered due to the divorce of her former humans. Sadie’s GGLRR web page provides a lot more background info, the details of which tell a sad story. But one would never guess her less-than-fortunate history from her cheery and sweet disposition. She is a bit like the unsinkable Molly Brown — still smiling and wagging her tail!
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Sadie as she has been spending her time with us, along with her foster brother, Teddy. Sadie is a very youthful and energetic 8 y.o., and fairly petite in size, weighing in at only 60 lbs. She has some neurological deficit in her hindquarters which makes her a bit clumsy at times and, when overly excited, can result in an unexpected bowel movement, though this is rare. In spite of her disability, Sadie LOVES to fetch the tennis ball and go for walks — she does not let her weak hind leg slow her down one bit, as the video on her GGLRR will page attest.
Below are a couple of my favorites from our “studio” session with Sadie — she proved to be quite the photogenic little model! We also shot some video of her and put together a music vid which, along with the full set of photos from the shoot, can be viewed on Sadie’s GGLRR page.
