One of our pet care business clients in Campbell has been telling us about a pair of ducks–a drake and his mate–who fly in every evening for a frolicking dip in the backyard pool. Finally got to witness the display for myself this weekend while pet-sitting for Frannie and Casey, their two Labradoodles. I was told the two typically arrive each night between 6 – 6:30 p.m. “Perfect!” I thought, as this is right around sunset–the golden hour in photography–when the sun’s light is soft and oblique, casting long shadows.
So the spouse and I planned an evening outdoor barbeque to keep ourselves occupied as we waited for the ducks to arrive. At 6:30 p.m., SPLASH! Right on time, except it was only the female duck, no drake in sight — apparently he had other plans for the night. As my spouse tossed the bread crumbs into the pool , I snapped away for a good 30 minutes, until Mizz Duck was done with her evening bath and decided to fly off to parts unknown, no doubt to rejoin her guy.
