Worldwide Photo Walk 2010 – Pacific Garden Mall, Santa Cruz
Saturday, July 24th, was the 3rd annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk which saw over 33,000 shutterbugs take to the streets in over 1,100 cities, worldwide. Ananda and I participated in two walks this year, one in the morning and one in the evening.
Our evening group was small but friendly — about seven in total, including our very capable walk leader, Jeremy Verinsky. The walk itself was an easy, relaxed stroll up and down Pacific Garden Mall in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz, CA. Pacific Garden Mall is not an indoor mall but a tree-lined stretch of homegrown shops, restaurants and period architecture along Pacific Avenue. No shortage of photo opps here, as the busy avenue is ripe with colorful locals, street musicians, vendors and unique boutiques. The photo above was taken inside Om Gallery — a close-up shot of some mini paper lanterns and one of the gallery’s many unique hanging light fixtures, the Om Q Light, described by the boutique’s website as thus:
Our IQ lights are made out of a recycled plastic mold. The pieces can be formed into various shapes of lighting fun. This modern and innovative design is nearly indestructible, easy to clean and fun for all ages and motifs.
Below are a couple more from the walk, including the one and only “tail” in my set from the evening. The full set can be viewed on Flickr:
