Niles Dog Show 2011
Last Saturday, July 16th, was the always fun, never disappointing Niles Dog Show, held each year at the Niles Community Park at 3rd and H Streets.
The dog show’s motto, “No pedigree? No problem!” draws dogs of all sizes, shapes and colors, all vying for fun titles and colorful ribbons to hang on their collars. In addition to the classes, there were also agility, scent and police K9 demonstrations, a slew of terrific vendor booths to visit, an adoption parade and prize drawings. Last but not least, was an ‘Owney, the Railway Post Office Dog‘ look-alike contest, the winner of which received a special prize awarded by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum.
I hauled along ‘Big Mama,’ my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens for the event and snapped over 1,500 images before running out of memory cards to fill — missing out, sadly, on the final two classes (Prettiest Female under & over 45 lbs.) and the ‘Best in Show’. Aaargh. Next year, I’ll be sure to bring more cards!
After weeding through all the images, some 560 images made the cut and are now uploaded to my new website, NikRaye Photography. The images are web-optimized, low resolution files (1200 pixels on the longest side @72 dpi) and are free to link to or download. For full-resolution, retouched, print-optimized digital image files, one can contact me via this blog or through the NikRaye Photography website to purchase digital downloads and/or professional prints (at very affordable prices!).
Below, are the winners of each of the classes and Best in Show (with apologies to Emmie, winner of the Prettiest Female under 45 lbs – whose class win was announced after I ran out of memory cards). The full set of images can be viewed by clicking the following links:
